Break the Chains : Stand with LIFT on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons
THE STORY
*Grace, a young girl living in Southeast Asia, was optimistic about a job prospect in a neighbouring country. However, this dream was shattered when she was forced to work at a scam center instead, threatened with sex trafficking if she failed to comply.
Grace’s story is not a single story but resonates with the experiences of 50 million others trapped in modern slavery worldwide [1]. As July 30th marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we invite you to stand with us, alongside Grace and these millions.
This year’s theme, “Human trafficking is Organized Crime. End the Exploitation,” sheds light on the ruthless criminal networks that fuel this inhuman trade and the vital role law enforcement and criminal justice system has in dismantling organized trafficking networks. Join us as we reflect on this global challenge, LIFT’s contributions, and next steps.
Human Trafficking is a profoundly multifaceted issue, driven by complex socio-economic factors and global criminal networks. Addressing it effectively requires acknowledging its interwoven social, economic, and criminal dimensions. A truly effective solution hinges on comprehensive multidisciplinary and cross-border collaboration among all stakeholders to combat its complexities.

FIGHTING ON THE FRONT LINES
LIFT International is on the frontlines, fighting to disrupt these criminal networks and bring freedom to survivors. We contribute to the strengthening of Justice Systems. Through our expertise in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Digital Forensics Extraction and Analysis, we collaborate across professional disciplines with non-profit and government partners. We closely support Law Enforcement in the investigation and prosecution process to ensure that justice is achieved for survivors.
Furthermore, LIFT is an active participant in important conversations. We’ve contributed to a Provincial Multidisciplinary team reflecting on Thailand’s National Referral Mechanism (NRM), discussing steps to enhance effectiveness in victim identification and survivor care, especially for cross-border trafficking cases. Additionally, LIFT continues to advocate for Child Friendly Justice approaches and trauma-informed decision making in the legal process. We are also committed to enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement through expertise sharing relating to advanced online investigation techniques.
YOUR CALL TO ACTION
LIFT is making our mark in the movement towards justice through our emphasis in identification, protection, and prosecution. But we can’t do it alone. Due to the multifaceted complexity of human trafficking, we need you in this fight!
How are you making your mark? We invite you to stand with us through:
Educating yourself and others on this complex issue
Supporting grassroot and frontline anti-trafficking organisations
Participating in local events and joining in on conversations advocating for policy change.
We are confident that through our collaboration together, Criminal Justice Systems will be strengthened, the role of law enforcement will become more effective, and all 50 million individuals affected by this inhuman crime will receive justice.
